Ukraine and the United States of America have made a significant step forward in preparing an economic partnership agreement. According to the First Vice Prime Ministers-Ministers of Economy Yulia Sviridenko, technical teams of both countries have carried out intensive work on the text of the document and have already achieved significant results. She reported this on Facebook on Wednesday, April 16.
"A positive new step with the United States on the Economic Partnership Agreement and the establishment of the Investment Fund for the rebuilding of Ukraine. Our technical teams have worked very thoroughly together on the agreement - there is significant progress, lawyers made the right emphasis in the Draft Agreement. Thanks to both teams," Sviridenko said.
She also reported that the parties agreed to record the result in the form of a memorandum of intentions. This will formalize the preliminary arrangements and continue the reconciliation of the final text of the document.
"We, together with our partners, will work on the final version of the agreement. Many points have already been worked, and the level of this agreement should be high enough," Sviridenko added.
The document is expected not only to determine strategic directions of economic cooperation, but also will become the basis for attracting investments in the restoration of the Ukrainian economy, in particular in the field of infrastructure, industry and technologies. According to the Minister, the agreement will be ratified in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine after approval.
"This partnership will provide the conditions for significant economic growth of both Ukraine and the United States," she stressed.
