The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has announced the establishment of the National Register of Military Psychologists and Organizations providing psychological assistance to servicemen. This was reported by the press service of the defense department on April 17. The initiative aims to provide effective, timely and professional support to the Ukrainian military who are in the war zone or return from the front.
The new register will contain proven information about specialists and organizations: their education, experience, specialization, availability of appropriate certificates and licenses, as well as the specific services they provide. Thus, the commanders, medical units and the psychological service of the Armed Forces will be able to quickly find reliable specialists in their region.
Special attention will be paid to accreditation - only those specialists and organizations that have undergone appropriate verification and meet the established standards will be included in the Register. This should be a guarantee of quality and professionalism, which is especially important in war, when psychological help can save life.
According to the head of the Department of Psychological Support of Colonel Oleg Mukan Ministry of Defense, creating a register is a response to a growing need for systematic, coordinated and effective assistance to the military.
"In the conditions of war, we have no right to delay the solution of the mental health of our defenders. It is about human life, dignity, recovery after loss and trials," he stressed.
In addition to individual support of the military, the register will also contribute to better interaction of the armed forces with public and volunteer initiatives. Many of these organizations are already working in the field of rehabilitation and psychological support, but the lack of a single standard or platform for coordination often complicates their work with state structures.
Creating a register also opens up the opportunity to form a holistic system of psychological assistance in the army. With proper coordination, this will allow to monitor the workload of specialists, to objectively evaluate the quality of services, to implement curricula and to ensure the constant development of the professional community of military psychologists.
