In his evening address, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported on active preparation of the country to participate in the G7 summit, which will take place in June 2025 in Canada.
According to the Head of State, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs under the direction of Andriy Sibiga is already working on the logistics and content of Ukraine's participation in the meeting of the leaders of the Seven Group. Separately, the President emphasized the task of the Foreign Ministry - to provide additional funding for the production of artillery shells and drones necessary for the country's defense capability.
"I thank the Foreign Ministry for preparation for the G7 summit. This is an important stage in our diplomatic and security strategy," Zelensky said.
It is not yet known whether the President will personally head the Ukrainian delegation, but the invitation from Canada Prime Minister Mark Carney has already been received.
The Summit in Canada will be the first for Carney as a government leader, as well as for US President Donald Trump after returning to the White House. The event will take place in Cananaskis, Alberta province, and will focus on several key topics:
-
Support of Ukraine in opposition to Russian aggression;
-
Global economic stability;
-
Digital transformation and regulation of the latest technologies;
-
Energy safety and climate change.
Canada as a G7 chairman in 2025 seeks to provide a platform for decisive and coordinated actions against the background of new geopolitical challenges.
