The joint press conference of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Sibiga and his Israeli Colleague of Hidoon Saar was held in Kyiv, during which the parties announced the beginning of a new format of cooperation - a separate strategic dialogue dedicated to the Iranian threat. The meeting took place on Wednesday, July 23.
According to Sibiga, Iran and Russia, they create a systemic danger not only for the security of Ukraine and Israel, but also for global stability. The Minister stressed that Iran destabilizes the region, actively supports terrorist groups and tries to develop his own nuclear program.
“Iran and Russia pose an existential threat not only to our countries but also to global security. Today we have agreed with Minister Saar to start a separate dialogue with the Iranian threat. It will be a constant channel of information exchange, risk assessments and coordination of actions, ”the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said.
Sibiga also emphasized that Moscow, Tehran and Pyongyang are increasingly working closely, forming the "Alliance of Criminal Regimes" that threaten the free world. In response to these challenges, Ukraine and Israel intend to strengthen both bilateral and multilateral security cooperation.
For his part, Israel's Foreign Minister Gideon Saar confirmed that Iran poses a direct threat to both his country and regional and European security, including Ukraine.
“We cannot allow Iran to continue to realize our nuclear ambitions. Today we have agreed on strategic dialogue between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and Israel, in particular on monitoring the supply of weapons and Iranian military technologies that pose a threat to our region, ”Saar said.
The Minister of Israel also noted that the fight against the spread of Iranian weapons will help to strengthen the security of not only Israel, but all of Europe, including Ukraine. According to Saar, close cooperation in this direction will allow you to identify risks faster and respond jointly to destabilization attempts.
