Ukraine will receive $ 3 billion credit from Japan

Ukraine and Japan have concluded an important financial agreement that provides our country with a loan of up to 471.9 billion Japanese yen - about $ three billion. The document in the form of exchange of notes was signed by the Minister of Finance of Ukraine Serhiy Marchenko and the Ambassador of Japan to Ukraine Massaha Nakagome.

This loan is provided within the international mechanism called Extraordinary Revenue Acceleration for Ukraine (ERA) , which was launched by the Seven (G7) countries. An important feature of this financial instrument is that loan repayment will be made at the expense of future profits derived from frozen and immovable assets of the Russian Federation, which are in the jurisdiction of partner countries.

Financing is provided for up to 30 years with preferential terms. It is provided for priority articles of the state budget, including social expenditures, critical infrastructure and restoration of territories affected by hostilities. Some of the funds will also be aimed at supporting Ukraine's macro -financial stability.

Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko thanked Japan in his statement for his systematic support since the beginning of a full -scale invasion. According to the minister, since 2022, Japan has provided Ukraine with more than $ 8.5 billion in the form of budget support, grants, humanitarian assistance and technical cooperation.

“Japan is a striking example of international solidarity. It has become one of Ukraine's key partners in our struggle for freedom and future. I express my deep gratitude to the government and the people of Japan for this critical support, ”Marchenko stressed.

The Ministry of Finance also noted that Japan is not only a donor but also a participant in the reconstruction of Ukraine, in particular within the limits of multilateral formats of cooperation. Tokyo is actively involved in the projections for mine, restoration of infrastructure, educational and medical programs.

In general, the signing of this Agreement testifies to the strategic level of relations between Kiev and Tokyo, as well as Japan's decisive devotion to support Ukraine on a long -term basis - both during the war and during the post -war recovery.
