Ukraine will receive $ 3 billion from Japan at the expense of Russian assets

The Government of Ukraine has approved an agreement with Japan to provide financial assistance worth about $ 3 billion. Prime Minister Denis Shmigal reported this in his Telegram channel on Friday, May 2.

According to the report, the funds will be received within the limits of the Extraordinary Revenue Acceleration (ERA) initiative, which involves the use of income from frozen Russian assets. This money will be aimed at priority articles by the State Budget, in particular the reconstruction of infrastructure, economic development and support for social programs.

“Thank you to G7 partners and the EU for creating a tool that forces Russia to pay for the damage caused. We expect that all the immobilized assets of the aggressor will be confiscated and aimed at rebuilding Ukraine, ”Shmigal emphasized.

This funding is part of a broader international approach to Russia's holding responsibility for the war against Ukraine. The use of profits from frozen Russian assets is increasingly supported by the West countries as a legally acceptable and politically feasible tool for compensation for the damage caused.

Other similar arrangements with partners of Ukraine will be expected in the near future, which will ensure the stability of public finances and continue key renewable programs in war.
