Poland and Ukraine gas transportation operators have agreed to increase the guaranteed capacity of the gas route from 6.4 to 12.4 million cubic meters a day. This was reported by the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine.
Part of the additional capacity will be offered during the monthly auction for July 2025, which will take place on June 16. This will allow Ukraine to significantly increase gas imports through the Polish GTS.
Negotiations and technical research of gas transportation systems of both countries allowed us to identify the optimal options for expanding gas transportation opportunities to Ukraine. The reached agreement opens new prospects for diversification of energy supply.
Energy Minister of Ukraine Herman Galushchenko stressed that the role of this route will only grow. The Polish gas transportation system provides access to various sources of natural gas, in particular to liquefied gas from all over the world, which makes this path important for Ukraine's energy security.
