Ukraine entered the top three countries with the largest number of refugees

The world is faced with the unprecedented crisis of refugees, and Ukraine has become one of the three countries where the most refugees arrive. The war in Ukraine caused a massive outflow of population and shelter abroad.

By the end of 2023, despite the fact that more than a million Ukrainians returned to their homes during the year, about 5.8-6.2 million Ukrainians remained international refugees, and another 5 million were still internally displaced persons in Ukraine.

It is worth noting that armed conflicts remain the main driving forces of the global refugee crisis, only confirming the examples of Syria, South Sudan, Afghanistan, Myanmar and, of course, a full -scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022. Wars lead to mass movement of the population, forcing millions of people to seek asylum outside their countries.

However, not only waves entail the waves of refugees. Climate change, with its devastating impact on agriculture and food safety, is also an important factor. Drought and famine, which are particularly acute in countries such as the Democratic Republic of the Congo, make people leave their homes in search of better living conditions.
