Despite Russian aggression, as of November 2023, Ukraine remains the third largest supplier of agricultural products to the EU, ahead of European exports by € 1.5 billion or 23% compared to the same period of 2022. According to the European Commission, Ukraine ranks third among the suppliers, overtaken by Brazil and the United Kingdom.
Imports to the EU in August 2023 amounted to € 12.5 billion, rising by 5%, but remaining 15% lower than August 2022. Generalized imports from January to August 2023 amounted to € 107.4 billion, which shows a slight reduction by 3% or € 3 billion compared to the same period last year. Brazil, United Kingdom and Ukraine are distinguished among the suppliers in this period.
Ukraine remains an important consumer of European agricultural products, holding the 14th position at € 2.5 billion of imports from the EU for the period from January to August 2023. This reflects an increase of 21% or € 385 million compared to the same period of 2022.
