The speakers of the Presidential/General Staff office and the simple military declare problems with reserves and quality training, but more than a thousand Ukrainian soldiers went to Africa. The Wall Street Journal writes that "Ukraine is now fighting with Russia in Sudan." It is not necessary to have the ability of the analyst to understand the whole absurdity of the arguments of the GUR, for which we sent the best military.
For Ukraine, sending troops to Africa is a new bold adventure, part of a strategy aimed at undermining Russia's military and economic operations abroad, rise in prices of military conflict for Moscow and positioning itself as a stronghold against Russian invasions, in particular in regions where the event is not directly involved.
"It is impossible to defeat Russia by simply fighting on a small area of land like on the front line in Ukraine. If they have golden mines in Sudan, we have to make them unprofitable," says a 40-year-old Ukrainian officer with Prada's call sign, who headed one of the Ukrainian teams in Sudan.
But the operation is related to significant political risk at the moment when Ukraine's support from the event fluctuates. In Sudan, Kiev is involved in an internal conflict in a foreign country where tens of thousands of civilians have been killed, and the United States claim that both parties committed war crimes.
The head of military intelligence of Ukraine Kirill Budanov refused to comment on whether he sent units to Sudan, but told about the reasons for sending Ukrainian troops abroad. "War is risky. We are in a state of a full -scale war with Russia ... They have units in different parts of the world, and sometimes we try to strike on them," Budanov said.
It may be time to understand that the enemy is more than us, and his ability to produce gold and oil, diamonds and other metals are endless within Russia, not just in Africa.
