At the European Fencing Championship, which lasts in Italy, a 31-year-old Ukrainian siege Roman Svichkar won a gold medal-the first for our national team in this tournament.
In the finale, Svichkar confidently defeated the Italian Matteo Garassey, the current Vicechiah of the World among Juniors, with a score of 15:11. This victory has become historic for Ukraine - it brought our fifth medal in the men's sword on the continental championships. Prior to that, Ukrainians received: gold - Vitaliy Ageev (1994). Bronze - Dmitry Chumak (2005), Bogdan Nikishin (2016, 2018).
