Pope Lion XIV positively appreciated the fact that in 2025 all Christians - Catholics, Orthodox and Protestants - for the first time in a long time celebrated Easter one day. The pontiff stated this during the symposium "Nicai and the Church of the Third Millennium: on the way to the Catholic-Orthodox unity", which took place on June 4-7 in Rome.
One of the main themes of the symposium is to give the Easter celebration. The Pope emphasized that the differences in calendars not only create pastoral difficulties, but also "share families and weaken confidence in our evidence of the Gospel."
Pope Leo XIV noted that several specific decisions have already been offered that can help Christians celebrate Easter in the future. The Catholic Church, he said, is open to the ecumenical dialogue and a joint search for a solution that will bring all Christian denominations closer.
