Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk, who won the World Height Champion title of WBO, WBA, IBO and WBC, received a prestigious award as the best boxer of 2024 from the authoritative edition of The Ring and the ESPN sports channel. His achievements last year were recognized as the highest in boxing, and the first fight against Tyson Fury in May 2024 became the best match of the year.
During the award ceremony, Usik thanked his fans, family and team, and also distinguished the importance of helping people and giving smiles. However, his humorous comment to his rival Tyson Fury, whom Usik called his "best friend" and "greedy Puz", attracted the most attention.
"I want to tell my opponent, my best friend Tyson Fury: My friend, greedy belly, thank you big. You are a wonderful, my opponent," Usik said in his address, showing a good humor and friendly mood, despite rivalry in the ring.
At the same time, the ESPN Presrection emphasizes that Usik became the first undisputed heavyweight champion for almost 25 years, after he inflicted on the first defeat in May 2024 in his career. The Ukrainian athlete won through technical blows and first sent Fury to knockdown in the ninth round.
