The Hague Municipality refused to rename the street on which the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Netherlands is located, in honor of the Russian opposition politician Alexei Navalny. This was reported by NL Times Information Portal.
According to the online publication, the decision was made by the local authorities due to the fact that the request for renaming the street near the Russian Embassy does not meet two requirements.
First, the street names change only in case of urgent need to ensure accessibility or safety.
Secondly, the streets can be named after a person who died at least ten years ago, because this person's life needs careful study.
