On the evening of July 18, 2024, Odesa witnessed a tragic event that stirred the local community. A 13-year-old girl was killed in the abandoned building of the Kuyalnik sanatorium in the Peresyp district. The incident happened when the baby was with a girlfriend, drawing on the walls of the destroyed complex.
According to the National Police of Ukraine, girls who were both 13 years old decided to spend time in the old sanatorium building. They climbed the stairs leading between the fourteenth and fifteenth floors to draw on the walls. As one of the girls admired her pattern, she made a step back, lost balance and fell into the gap between the stairs.
The parents of the girl who became the first to notice her absence reported the incident to law enforcement. Police, rescuers and doctors arrived at the tragedy, but it was not possible to save the girl - she died on the spot.
At the time of the tragedy, the girl was in touch with her family and told her mother that she was going to return home. However, an hour later, her phone stopped answering calls. The body of the child is sent for examination, which confirmed that death came as a result of falling from a height.
Law enforcement officers opened the proceedings under part 2 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for an investigation into premeditated murder with an accident. An investigation is being investigated to establish all the circumstances of the tragedy.
The family of the dead girl did not get into the field of view of law enforcement officers, and, according to her parents, her daughter often walked with her friend and was constantly in touch.
