In Ukraine, more than a million citizens will check privileges

In Ukraine, they plan to introduce a unified system for checking the validity of receiving benefits for housing and communal services, solid fuels and gas. A total of 1.2 million citizens who use such privileges will come under the verification. This is stated in the project of the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine.

Verification will cover information from more than six state registers and agencies, in particular:

  • State Register of Individuals - Taxpayers (verification of the accuracy of the registration number);
  • Unified State Demographic Register (verification of the validity of the passport of the citizen of Ukraine);
  • The State Register of Civil Citizens Civil Status (checking the availability of deaths, birth, change of name, marriage or divorce);
  • Information system of the Pension Fund of Ukraine (verification of accrual and payment of housing subsidies);
  • Centralized disability database (checking of status and disability group);
  • Unified State Register of War Veterans (checking the status of war veteran).

The data will be verified by comparing information from the Pension Fund and other state registers. The main attention will be paid to the following aspects:

  • whether a living person who receives the benefit;
  • Do not receive a privilege and a subsidy at the same time;
  • whether the place of registration of the recipient of the benefits of his official documents corresponds to;
  • whether a person has a confirmed disability;
  • Does a person belong to the category of war veterans.

According to government officials, the purpose of the new system is to create a unified approach to checking privileges, ensuring transparency of state aid and identifying improper use of benefits.

The Government assures that there is nothing to worry in good faith recipients. However, those who illegally use privileges may lose them after checking.

Citizens are advised to check in advance the correctness of their data in the state registers. In case of inaccuracies or errors, you should contact the appropriate authorities to correct them to avoid problems during checking.

The new system is expected to start operating soon. Thus, the authorities plan to strengthen control over the distribution of public funds and make social support more targeted.
