On Thursday, December 19, Ukraine has been the largest external cyberattack recently. The purpose of the attack was the state registers within the competence of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine. Olga Stephanyshyn said about it on the night of Friday, December 20.
As a result of the attack temporarily stopped work:
- State Register of Civil Status Acts;
- The Unified State Register of Legal Entities and Individuals of Entrepreneurs;
- The State Register of Real Estate Rights and their encumbrances.
The attack, according to Stephanishina, was directed by Russian intruders in order to violate the work of critically important infrastructure of the state.
Viceremier-Minister emphasized that it will take at least two weeks to restore systems. The priority is currently restoring access to these registers as soon as possible. The Ministry of Justice's team in cooperation with specialists of other services works in enhanced mode to eliminate the consequences of the attack.
"The enemy is trying to use this situation in his information operations to sow panic among Ukrainian citizens and abroad. I thank the citizens for understanding," Stephanishina emphasized.
This incident has been another testimony that Ukraine remains in the focus of cybergression. Viceremier noted that the government team is already coordinating work to counteract such attacks in the future. Details for updating information are promised to be provided in an operational manner.
