The Specialized Anti -Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP), together with NABU detectives, exposed a large -scale corruption scheme that operated in the Ukrzaliznytsia . According to the investigation, more than UAH 15 million was stolen during public procurement of paints and linoleum.
As reported on Friday, June 27, the SAP refers to the events of 2022-2023, when the organizer of the scheme ensured a victory in tenders in a predetermined companies. As a result, the state company purchased materials at significantly inflated prices.
Law enforcement officers reported suspicion to five persons. Among them is the organizer of the scheme, two representatives of the suppliers, the former deputy branch of the Center for Production Production and the UZ and the head of the department for providing materials for operational activity of the same branch.
The investigation found that "competition" was fictitious when conducting tenders: if a non -controlled firm took part or it was a lower price - the purchase was canceled. After that, the victory was given to companies that were agreed in advance, and with which they then concluded contracts with deliberately inflated cost of goods.
"The implementation of the scheme from September 2022 to April 2023 caused Ukrzaliznytsia of losses of more than 15 million hryvnias, which were actually stolen and distributed among the members of the group," the SAP's official message reads.
The actions of the suspects are qualified under Part 5 of Article 191 and Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - appropriation, waste of property in particularly large amounts, as well as abuse of power or official position.
Investigative actions are currently underway, the issue of precautionary measures is being resolved. For such crimes, the persons involved may threaten up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
