Special Representative of the US President in Ukraine Kit Kelloga said that US officials are planning to have indirect negotiations between Ukraine and Russia on March 24 in Saudi Arabia. Kellogo told this in an interview with Glenna Beck journalist.
According to him, the United States will send so -called technical groups for meetings with Ukrainian and Russian officials separately, placing them in different rooms. Thus, Washington tries to organize indirect negotiations using the method of "shuttle diplomacy".
"This week, we send the so -called technical groups to the so -called indirect negotiations in Saudi Arabia, when both sides come but are in different rooms," Kellogo explained.
The main purpose of this initiative is to find out the conditions and position of Russia and Ukraine on ceasefire. According to Kellog, the US wants to answer key questions in one day of negotiations.
"In fact, it is a shuttle diplomacy between the rooms in Riyadh ... Let's see if we will be able to reach a comprehensive ceasefire. It will be the first step to the end of the war," the US Special Representative emphasized.
The organization of such negotiations testifies to Washington's intention to promote peaceful conflict settlement and to create a basis for further agreements between Ukraine and Russia.
