The United States did not change their state policy on Ukraine's territorial integrity. This was stated by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio after the meeting of the Great Seven Foreign Ministers, Ukrinform reports on Friday, March 14.
In a joint statement, as a result of the event, the G7 members confirmed their adamant support for Ukraine in protecting its territorial integrity. This became an important signal against the backdrop of the absence of such statements earlier by Donald Trump's administration. The journalists asked Rubio, which prompted the US to sign such a document.
"I do not think it is a change of state policy. The United States has never said, I have never heard that President Trump said that Russia has the right to seize all Ukraine and do everything he wants there," the Secretary of State said.
However, Rubio stressed that the G7 document does not concern "the problem we face today and which is that there is now a war that has no military decision." According to him, neither Russia nor Ukraine can reach its "maximalist military goals".
He also stressed that negotiations remain the only way to end the war, regardless of whether it is a business, commerce or geopolitics. This implies the readiness of both parties to make concessions.
"In reality, any conversations about the termination of the war provide for a certain level of concessions.
