The Vatican will allow same-sex couples to be blessed, but it is not a wedding

The Vatican allows the blessing of same-sex couples, but leaves them out of the scope of conducting weddings or any other marriage ceremonies.

The Pope approved the declaration concerning the pastoral meaning of blessings, which was published by the Dicastery for Doctrine. Now the church can bless those who "do not live according to the norms of Christian moral doctrine, but humbly ask for a blessing." Thus, the pastoral meaning of blessings is "broadened and enriched."

However, it is important to note that this practice does not put an official stamp on the status of spouses for same-sex couples and does not change the "eternal teaching of the Church on marriage."
