Great Britain and Germany are preparing for war

Britain will take a major step towards strengthening its defense ties with the European Union this week by signing a major defense deal with Germany. This is a historic agreement that provides for joint military exercises, the development of new generation weapons and closer cooperation in the defense field. This is reported by The Times .

Defense agreement: joint training and development of weapons

One of the key components of the agreement is the holding of joint military exercises on NATO's eastern flank, in particular, in countries such as Estonia and Lithuania. These maneuvers are designed to strengthen NATO's defense capabilities, focused on deterring potential threats on the Alliance's eastern borders.

The agreement also provides for joint procurement and development of a new generation of weapons. Special attention will be paid to the creation of long-range missiles. France, Poland and Italy will also join this initiative, and the developed missiles will have a longer range than the already known Storm Shadow, which Ukraine successfully uses in attacks on Russian military facilities.

The strategic importance of the agreement

British Defense Minister John Healy emphasized that the agreement with Germany will contribute to strengthening the defense industries of both countries. This becomes especially important against the background of depletion of weapons stocks in Western countries due to the support of Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression.

Experts say the agreement could become the basis for a wider defense arrangement between the UK and the EU, which would cover cooperation in the areas of intelligence, energy security and the fight against illegal migration.

In terms of significance, this agreement will be the most significant bilateral agreement for Great Britain since the Lancaster House agreement concluded with France in 2010. Then the countries established close military cooperation, in particular in the field of nuclear research and joint military operations.

New opportunities for British forces

As part of the new project, called Asgard, British troops stationed in Estonia will receive the latest equipment, including drones, modern radio systems and advanced technology to improve maneuverability and combat training. This will allow the British military to better prepare for complex tasks against potentially stronger adversaries.

Strengthening the defense of Germany

Germany, which significantly increased its defense spending after Russia's invasion of Ukraine, is now the second largest military spender among NATO countries. Cooperation with Great Britain will give Germany an additional impetus to strengthen its defense capabilities, while providing Europe with a powerful alliance in the face of external threats.

The agreement between Great Britain and Germany is an important step towards deepening European defense cooperation in the face of threats from Russia. Joint efforts in the development of the latest technologies and weapons will allow NATO member countries to better prepare for possible security challenges in the future.
