On April 11, 2025, the next meeting of the Defense Group of Ukraine in Ramstein format will be held in Brussels. This time, the United Kingdom will head a meeting, which will discuss the issue of increasing military assistance to Ukraine, as well as strategic steps to support the country in the fight against the Russian aggressor. The meeting will be headed by the UK Defense Minister John Gili, British Prime Minister Kir Starmer said after the Paris Coalition Summit in Paris, March 27, 2025.
The Ramstein meeting, which will be held under the British chairman, has one main purpose - to send more military assistance to Ukraine. Particular attention will be paid to the renewal of defense, strengthening of air defense, as well as supporting heavy artillery and armored vehicles. The United Kingdom, which is actively helping Ukraine since the beginning of the war, continues to be one of the largest weapons suppliers, including air defense and artillery systems.
During the previous meetings, Ramstein identified a number of important strategic steps, including strengthening of Ukraine's defense on various fronts and assistance in adaptation of military tactics. Now that the war has been going on for over a year, Ukraine's partners have come together to clarify further actions and adapt plans to the new realities of the front.
This will be the second meeting of Ramstein, which will take place under the chairmanship of the UK, instead of the US. The preliminary meeting, which took place on February 12, 2025, was also organized by Britain, which emphasizes the importance of its role in the international support of Ukraine.
Previous Ramstein meetings have shown how important it is to coordinate between allies to provide Ukraine with the necessary military equipment, the supply of humanitarian assistance, and to strategic support for intelligence and technologies.
The focus of the future meeting will focus on the specific supply of heavy weapons necessary to strengthen the possibilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in defense. In particular, this will include artillery systems, tanks, air defense systems and various types of ammunition.
The United Kingdom, which is recognized as one of the most active countries that support Ukraine, has already handed over a number of important military systems to the Ukrainian forces. In particular, the Armed Forces of Ukraine came to the Grim-2 air defense complexes, as well as ammunition for the Baracar system and missiles for the latest artillery units.
