On December 18, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted in the second reading the bill No. 12102, which provides for the creation and maintenance of an official list of terrorist organizations. 282 MPs voted in favor of this initiative.
According to Co -chairman of the European Solidarity faction Irina Gerashchenko, the law establishes a clear mechanism for identifying and entering organizations in such a list.
- The legislative mechanism that regulates the introduction of organizations in the list of terrorist is defined.
- The list includes organizations that carry out terrorist activities both in the territory of Ukraine and abroad, if they are a threat to national security.
- The list is entrusted to the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), which provides a clear list of grounds for inclusion of organizations. This eliminates opportunities for abuse of discretionary powers.
The bill aims to strengthen Ukraine's national security and promote more effective fight against terrorist threats. In addition, the new mechanism harmonizes national legislation with international standards in the field of counter -terrorism.
This solution is an important step towards improving the transparency and effectiveness of the state's actions in the fight against terrorist organizations and protecting citizens from possible threats.
