The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Wednesday, April 16, supported the next continuation of martial law and general mobilization in the conditions of armed aggression of the Russian Federation. The relevant draft laws # 13172 and No. 13173 were submitted to Parliament by President Vladimir Zelensky the day before.
According to the decision of Parliament, both regimes were extended for another 90 days - by August 6, 2025.
357 people's deputies voted for the adoption of the bill on the continuation of martial law, and 346 for the continuation of general mobilization.
This is the fifteen voting of the Verkhovna Rada on the continuation of martial law and mobilization from the beginning of a full -scale invasion of Russia in February 2022.
The decision of the Parliament must be signed by the President and will come into force after the relevant decrees were published.
The sale of alcoholic beverages, the restriction of traveling abroad for the conscripts, the curfew and other restrictions related to martial law will remain in force for at least three months.
General mobilization continues - all men between the ages of 18 and 60 remain in the list of persons who can be drafted into the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine or other formations.
The continuation of martial law occurs against the background of constant fighting at the front, in particular in Donetsk, Lugansk, Kharkiv, Zaporizhia and Kherson regions. The government emphasizes that this decision is part of the necessary measures to ensure the country's defense capability and containing Russian aggression.
