The US Vice president visited Greenland and hinted to change the control of the island

US President Donald Trump said Greenland would in any case become part of the United States, and did not even exclude the island's military annexation. He said this in an interview with NBC News, saying that "America will receive Greenland 100%."

"We will get Greenland. Yes, 100%," Trump said, adding that he hopes for a peaceful way, but "does not remove from the agenda" and the power option. At the same time, he rejected fears of destabilizing the situation and referred to a survey that allegedly indicate that most Americans support this direction of politics. On March 28, US Vice president, Jay Di V, together with Trump Advisor Mike Waltts and other high -ranking officials, visited the American Pituff Space Base on the Island. Vance stated that the US did not plan to expand military presence in Greenland, but seek to provide leadership in the Arctic because of increasing threats from Russia and China.

He also called on Greenland residents to "accept the US security" instead of the "Danish umbrella" and hinted that the United States could offer a favorable agreement. The statements of Trump and Vens caused a sharp reaction of Copenhagen. Denmark's Foreign Minister Lars Lecke Rasmussen stated that such a tone is "unacceptable" in relations between the Allies. At the same time, he expressed his readiness for dialogue on US military presence in Greenland, but stressed that the decision on the future island remains Copenhagen and Greenland residents.

Greenland is a strategically important region because of its location and natural resources. The United States has long been seeking to strengthen the impact in the region, and Trump in 2019 suggested that Denmark to buy an island, which then caused indignation in Copenhagen. Now Washington's rhetoric is becoming tougher, which can lead to diplomatic exacerbation between the United States, Dania and other countries in the Arctic region.
