President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky expressed optimism on the beginning of negotiations with the European Union within five or six clusters in 2025. He stated this on January 15 during a meeting with the Ukrainian community in Warsaw.
Zelensky emphasized that progress in this process depends on cooperation with the countries that will preserve the EU Council throughout the year - Poland and Denmark.
Poland, which began its chairmanship on January 1 and will continue until the end of June 2025, plans to support Ukraine in the opening of two negotiating clusters. The President expressed his hope that the ambitious plans of the Ukrainian side would make progress and open three clusters during the Polish presidency.
"We expect that in the first half of the year, Poland will help us in the implementation of these plans. The Polish side is ready to support the opening of two clusters, but we hope for three," Zelensky said.
In the second half of 2025, when the presidency goes to Denmark, Ukraine seeks to expand cooperation and open three more clusters. The President stressed that the country in general has every chance of opening five to six clusters during the year.
"We have an ambitious goal-to open five to six clusters this year. There is all the chances, but it depends a lot on working with our partners," he said.
Zelensky also emphasized the role of Polish-Ukrainian partnership and European solidarity in the process of rapprochement with the EU, which is one of Ukraine's key priorities in the current environment.
