WHO is introducing a new system to protect the world from future pandemics

The World Health Organization has approved the first agreement in history to prevent and respond to the pandemic. The document approved at the World Health Assembly provides for the creation of a new financial mechanism and a global medication supply network. This solution has become an important step to strengthen international cooperation to protect people's lives and prevent the large -scale consequences of future outbreaks.

The agreement was adopted by the majority of WHO member countries during the annual meeting held on May 20. WHO CEO Tedros Adhan Gabreesus emphasized the importance of this document, noting that it will help the world to better prepare for the threats of pandemics and protect the economy and society from serious losses.

The next stage will be the development of a new access system for pathogens and the distribution of benefits, which will be prepared by a special intergovernmental working group. The results of this work are expected to be considered at the next session of the World Health Assembly. Upon approval of the annex to the Agreement, it will be opened for signing and ratification by the states. The agreement will come into force after ratification of at least 60 countries.

The agreement also plans to create a global network of supply and logistics chains that will eliminate barriers and provide timely, safe and fair access to the necessary medical products in the event of health emergencies. This mechanism should increase the world's readiness for rapid and effective response to potential pandemics, minimizing their impact on the health of the population and the economy.
