US Air Force accelerate NGAD development

The US Air Domination of New Generation (NGAD) has taken an important step forward - the key tests of engine design, which are being developed by Ge Aerospace and Pratt & Whitney, have been completed. The new adaptive engine is expected to be the basis for the sixth -generation fighters, which will be part of the Family Systems Family together with the unmanned Collborative Combat Aircraft (CCA). The National Interest writes about it.

The Next-Generation Adaptive Propulsion (NGAP) will determine the engine for future NGAD aircraft. GE Aerospace and Pratt & Whitney have completed the examination of the projects and proceed to create demonstration samples. Financing is increased almost three times, which will accelerate the development of technologies. XA102 from GE Aerospace became the first in the company designed using digital modeling. Pratt & Whitney also bet on digital transformation of engine. The sixth-generation stealth fighter with advanced characteristics. Unmanned drive (CCA) - drones that will perform combat missions with the fighter. Innovative technologies - reduction of radar visibility, artificial intelligence and adaptive engines. NGAD is developed as a response to increased air threat from China. New technologies are expected to give the United States air advantage in the wars of the future.

The selected engine must go through a new test stage and be integrated into the first NGAD prototype. The US Air Force continues to expand funding, which indicates a high priority of the program.
