The Ukrainian military reported the destruction of more than 13 thousand Russian soldiers near Avdiivka since the beginning of the enemy offensive in October. This was stated by the US National Security Council at the White House, Edrien Watson, in a comment for CNN.
"Since the beginning of the offensive in October, according to our estimates, more than 13 thousand losses have suffered from the Avdiivka-Novopavlivka axis and more than 220 combat vehicles-the equivalent of six maneuvered battalions only by equipment," Watson said.
The pressecretic also stressed that, despite Russia's attempts to take control of Avdiivka, this offensive has not led to strategic success for the aggressor country.
According to her, Putin is still trying to conquer Ukraine, but Russians are counting on a military deadlock, which can last all winter as a means of weakening Ukraine's support by the West. Despite Russian losses and lack of trained personnel, ammunition and equipment, Russia hopes to win the advantage.
"Putin clearly monitors what is happening in Congress - and we need Congress to take this month to support Ukraine at a difficult time for her," the pressecretic added.
The Russian offensive under Avdiivka has been going on for several months, and the Ukrainian military has been actively opposed to the occupiers. British intelligence also warned about increasing Russian losses by 90% during attacks on Avdiivka. The Armed Forces of Ukraine also reported significant losses of Russian forces left without 6,500 soldiers only in the Avdiivka area since October 10.
