An explosion on the railway in Samara, paralyzing the movement of trains

A railway bridge was blown up in the Samara region of Russia. The movement of trains is paralyzed there. The main intelligence department of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine was the first to report this. Later, the information about the damage to this bridge was confirmed by the Russian authorities.

We are talking about the bridge over the Chapaevka River, which according to the information of the GUR, was put out of order around 6:00 a.m. on Monday, March 4.

"The bridge was damaged by undermining its power structures," - noted the GUR. They added that, given the damage to the bridge, the Russians will not be able to use it for a long time.

This is not the first operation when Ukrainian special services announce an attack on a railway in the Russian rear. In December 2023, the SBU reported explosions and track damage on the Baikal-Amur railway line.

According to Ukrainian intelligence officers, the Russians used this railway line to transport military cargo.

So, the trains allegedly delivered ammunition produced at the Polimyer plant in the city of Chapaevsk, Samara region, along this road.

Trains are delayed

The Russian state news agency "RIA Novosti" also reported on the incident on the railway in Samara, calling it a loud sound - a "clap". As a result, according to the Russian Railways, there were no casualties, but five trains were delayed: Moscow - Samara, and Moscow - Orsk, Syzran - Myrna, and Syzran - Samara.

Later, the Russian emergency services said that unknown people blew up the supports of the bridge.

The agency "Interfax" with reference to representatives of the authorities reported that the supports were not destroyed, but there was damage to the railway track.

"This is a two-track section, now we need to go in for an inspection. Machinery and equipment are ready for restoration work. Initially, it will last several hours, but the encirclement has not been removed yet, law enforcement agencies are working," Interfax quoted its sources as saying.

Russian Telegram channels Shot and Mash report that two more explosive devices were found under the railway track in the Samara region.

According to their information, the explosives were on the tracks - one near the village of Bezenchuk, the other near the village of Nagirniy in the Chapaev district.

Telegram channel Baza wrote about one explosive device that did not go off and posted its photo on the network.

In the summer of 2023 and in the fall of 2022, the Ukrainian military attacked the Crimean bridge connecting the territory of Russia with the annexed Crimea.

Ukrainian UAVs have repeatedly flown to the Russian regions - Bryansk, Belgorod, Kursk Oblasts and the Krasnodar Territory.

At the end of 2023, there were two detonations of trains on the Baikal-Amur railway in Russia. The Russians use this highway for military logistics.

The fire broke out in the Severomuy tunnel named after Bessolova is the longest in the Russian Federation, passing through the territory of Buryatia. This is the far east of Russia, bordering Mongolia. At the same time, an explosion occurred on the Devil's Bridge of the Baikal-Amur highway.

Officially, the SBU did not comment on the incidents. However, according to sources, it was an operation of the Ukrainian special services.
