The US Congress is considering creating a delegation to visit Taiwan

After Taiwan's Democratic Progressive Party representative William Lai won the island's presidential election, US House Speaker Mike Johnson expressed his congratulations on social media H. He also announced a possible visit by a delegation of congressmen to Taiwan, which is likely to take place after the inauguration of the new president in May.

According to Johnson, the US expresses its desire to cooperate with Lai and continue to develop a strong partnership between the countries. He also emphasized Congress' continued commitment to security and democracy, noting that a high-level delegation visit to Taipei would be initiated to underscore that support.

The speaker expressed hope that the United States and Taiwan will continue to advance the principles of freedom, opportunity and security together. It is worth noting that US President Joe Biden, despite the fact that Taiwanese voters rejected China and gave the ruling party a third presidential term, emphasized that the US does not recognize Taiwan's independence.
