Ukrainian carriers working in Poland have faced serious difficulties in the form of high fines imposed on minor technical mistakes. According to Deputy Minister of Development and Territories of Ukraine Sergey Derkach, penalties can now reach the maximum size - 12 thousand zlotys, which is equivalent to about 120 thousand hryvnias.
The main reasons for the imposition of fines are minor violations, which are mostly related to the technical aspects. For example, penalties are imposed in the absence of punctuation in documents or for a short-term absence of GPS signal for several hundred meters of road. These sanctions have already become a problem for many Ukrainian carriers, and Ukraine has initiated a dialogue with the Polish side to resolve the situation. Sergiy Derkach reported that Ukraine has contacted the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Infrastructure of Poland, as well as the European Commission. A meeting with Polish colleagues has already been planned for more discussion of the problem. Ukraine insists on the proper operation of the system, creating a support service and ensuring a fair approach to fines. In the case of illegal imposition of a fine, the carriers were asked to send substantiated facts to the official mail of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
It should be noted that from January 1, 2025, the minimum wage was increased in Poland, which could also affect the costs of carriers.
