How Jatec will help integrate Ukrainian combat experience into NATO Strategy

On February 17, the Polish city of Bidgos will host the official opening ceremony of the NATO-Ukraine joint center for analysis, training and education (Jatec). This center will be an important platform for joint analysis of hostilities, military training and integration of Ukrainian combat experience in the Alliance's military training.

The NATO-UKRAINE Joint Analysis, Training and Education Center (Jatec) was created on the basis of a decision adopted a year ago, and has already started its activity. From now on, it will be an important place for military experts who will jointly analyze the course of war in Ukraine, develop curricula for the military alliance and the Armed Forces of Ukraine (Armed Forces), and exchange experience. The Director of the NATO Defense and Security Department Pierce Kazalet emphasizes the importance of this center as a tool for enhancing cooperation between the Alliance and Ukraine. NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte at a recent meeting with the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov noted that Jatec would integrate Ukrainian combat experience into the Alliance's military training. This will be an important step for interaction between NATO and the Armed Forces, as Ukrainian experience in combating Russia's aggression and the use of modern military technologies is invaluable for the development of strategic training in the Alliance.

It is worth noting that special attention will be paid to the study of the combination of modern technologies, such as drones, artificial intelligence, and traditional methods of warfare, including trenches of fighting and artillery duels. The Supreme Commander of the Joint NATO Armed Forces on transformation Admiral Pierre Wandeier emphasized the importance of these aspects for the further development of effective combat strategies and tactics. The second important structure that supports NATO and Ukraine's cooperation is the NATO Command for Preparation and Assistance to Ukraine (NSATU). It is located in Visbaden (Germany) and is responsible for coordinating the supply of weapons to Ukraine, the organization of training programs for the Armed Forces and the development of operational compatibility between the forces of Ukraine and NATO. The NSATU structure, which consists of about 700 people, operates as a coordination center for the supply of weapons and assistance, in accordance with the needs of Ukraine with the capabilities of the Allies. In addition, NSATU is actively working on the development of long -term operational compatibility of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with NATO forces. The roadmap, approved last year, is planned to improve weapons, personnel training and financing of defense initiatives, which will allow Ukraine to effectively interact with the Alliance.

NATO emphasizes that NSATU activity does not mean the direct involvement of the Alliance in conflict. The supply of weapons and equipment to Ukraine is through NATO member countries, and all internal logistics remains the responsibility of Ukraine.
