Upon completion of maternity leave and childbirth, one parent can issue a childcare leave at their own request. This right is also given to other persons, including grandparents, other relatives who are actually caring for the child, the person who has adopted or took a child for care, as well as foster parents or educators. The law provides that only one person of the listed can be used at the same time.
The leave is completed on the day when the child is three years old and the next day the employee is obliged to return to work. If necessary, further home care, which is confirmed by a medical report, leave can be extended to six years, provided that the relevant application and certificate in the form No. 080-1/o/o.
To exercise the right to care for a child, you need to contact the employer with a statement and a package of documents. For the child's father, this is:

a written statement in the name of the employer;

a copy of the birth certificate;

certificate from the place of work of the mother that she returned to work after completion of maternity leave;

Certificate of the body of social protection on termination of payment of mother's assistance.
Upon receipt of the documents, the employer issues an order for leave. At the request of the employee, he can work remotely or part -time during leave. If the employee returns to work early, the leave is stopped, but payments for childbirth care are not stopped.
The employee has the right to go to work ahead of time by warning the employer in 10 calendar days.
The child care leave is credited to both general and continuous work experience and experience in the specialty, but is not included in the length of service, which gives the right to annual basic leave.
No state payments are provided for a child's care for a child under three years of age. The only financial support is one -time childbirth assistance in the amount of 41 280 UAH. Of this amount, 10 320 UAH is paid immediately and the rest in equal parts for 36 months.
If the leave is issued for the child's father, he receives these payments.
