Law enforcement officers established the circumstances and performers of the terrorist attack, which occurred on March 11 at the Ivano-Frankivsk Center. In the evening of that day, the Russian intelligence service blew two of its own agents who transferred a homemade explosive device (SVP) in the area of the railway station.
According to the investigation, the Russian special services were two local minors aged 15 and 17 years old, which the Russian Federation was recruited through telegram channels for the search for "light money" and involved in criminal activity. The minors studied in colleges and made friends.
In exchange for the promise of monetary remuneration, according to the instructions of the Russian curator, they produced a homemade explosive and two SVP disguised as thermos. For conspiracy the boys made an explosive in a rented apartment near the railway station. Both explosives were equipped with detonators with the possibility of remote blasting and additional striking elements in the form of metal nuts.
To follow the instructions of the Russian customer, minors led both explosive devices into alert. At about 6:30 pm on March 11, they headed to a certain location to accommodate one of the devices. On the way, the Russian intelligence service, tracking them for GPS, remotely activated the explosive in their package.
As a result of the terrorist attack, a 17-year-old boy was killed on the spot, and his 15-year-old accomplishment was hospitalized with serious injuries. In addition, two random passers -by, who were near the explosion, were injured.
The Russians simultaneously removed the second explosive left in the rented apartment.
The SBU investigators have prepared reports of suspicion of the 15-year person involved in the following articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: aid in the act of a terrorist act that led to the death of a person, the illegal production of explosives and explosive devices by prior conspiracy by a group of persons. The maximum punishment for these articles provides for life imprisonment with the confiscation of property.
The issue of bringing two 15-year-old girls who were in one company with the persons involved in the preparation of a terrorist attack is also considered.
