The famous American pastor-Javanellist Mark Burns, who Time "Topastor Donald Trump", for the first time visited Ukraine. The trip took place at the invitation of the main rabbi of Ukraine Moshe Reuven Asman. After his visit, the pastor confessed that his idea of Ukrainians had changed dramatically.
According to the pastor, for many years the US media imposed a distorted picture of Ukraine - as countries with dominance of neo -Nazi ideas, racism, anti -religious policy and high levels of corruption. "For a long time, everything I knew about your country is a narrative that in Ukraine is full of neo -Nazis, that people are racists, hate churches, do not allow religious freedom. I saw ordinary people who became the target of Putin and the Russian army. It was then that my heart began to change." He also noted that he became the target of fake news that distort any narratives associated with Donald Trump.
During his visit, the pastor met with the Ukrainian military who clearly made it clear that they did not need money - they need a weapon to protect their land. "I had to see the real situation with my own eyes. Ukraine is a sovereign state. And Ukrainians want peace even more than weapons. This is really important," Berns stressed. Despite the change in attitude to Ukraine, the pastor retains his political position: he remains a firm supporter of Donald Trump and his ideas "America above all." "I believe that God has appointed me to support the agenda of Trump President. Staying in Ukraine enabled me to squeeze the noise of fake media that try to portray Ukrainians as corrupt, racist or neo -Nazi sympathizers," he said.
Mark Burns's visit to Ukraine has become another example of how personal experience and direct acquaintance with reality can change the established perception formed through information manipulations. His words can be weight in Christian and conservative circles of the United States, which are still influenced by pro -Russian myths.
