How changes in electricity tariffs in Ukraine affected consumers

In Ukraine, electricity tariffs will remain unchanged until May 2025. The People's Deputy from the "Servant of the People" faction Yevgeny Pivovarov stated that the cost of electricity will remain at the level of UAH 4.32 per kWh before the end of the heating season. This tariff will not change, in particular by May this year, and will be fixed to consumers.

Last year, the price of electricity in Ukraine increased by more than 63%. According to Resolution No. 632, from June 1, 2024, the tariff for household consumers was increased from 2.64 UAH/kWh to 4.32 UAH/kWh. The reason for this was the need to cover the real value of electricity, as the old tariff covers only a third of energy costs. In addition, the increase in tariffs was due to the need for funds to restore the destroyed energy infrastructure affected by the fighting. Pivovarov also noted that nuclear power is the cheapest source of energy today in Ukraine, with a cost of more than UAH 1.70 per kWh. This is due to the fact that nuclear power plants can produce low cost energy, and in the future the energy policy of Ukraine will be focused on the completion of nuclear power plants.

Given the situation with tariffs, the issues of energy security and further development of nuclear energy remain relevant for Ukraine in the conditions of restoration and modernization of energy capacity.
