Japanese car giants Honda and Nissan are negotiating to deepen cooperation, which can lead to a historical merger of two companies. If the agreement is implemented, the newly formed company will have a market value of $ 54 billion and an annual production of 7.4 million cars. This will make it the third largest car in the world in terms of sales, second only to Toyota and Volkswagen.
Negotiations between Honda and Nissan are focused on the possible creation of a holding company or even a full merger, which will allow companies to strengthen cooperation in the field of technology and create a serious competitor for Toyota in the Japanese market. In addition, the conversations also discuss the possibility of integration with Mitsubishi Motors, in which Nissan has the largest share of stocks - 24%.
Today, the Honda market capitalization is estimated at about $ 44 billion and Nissan is $ 10 billion. In the event of a complete merger, this will be the largest agreement in the automotive industry, even exceeding the $ 52 billion agreement between the Fiat Chrysler and the PSA, which led to the creation of the Steelantis group in 2021.
This merger is a strategic step for both companies seeking to strengthen their position in the global market and increase competitiveness in the fight against the largest auto giants.
