Yermak announced the opening of a new airport in Ukraine

The head of the president's office, Andriy Yermak, expressed optimism about the possibility of opening one of Ukraine's airports for civilian flights. He announced this during his trip to the USA and a speech at the Hudson Institute.

In his speech, Yermak emphasized the importance of strengthening the protection of the Ukrainian sky in the conditions of the predicted difficult winter and growing pressure from Russia on the energy sector of Ukraine. He believes that the strengthening of air defense systems (ADF) is a key element for the recovery of the country and noted that this could pave the way for the opening of the airport.

"Strengthening air defense will be the key to recovery. To restore Ukraine, a reliable umbrella is needed. In particular, its strengthening will allow us to reopen one of Ukraine's airports. We are already working on it with our partners. This is a sign that a turning point in the war is approaching. The next year will be decisive in this regard," Yermak said.

Regarding the specific details and timing of the opening of the airport, Yermak refrained from commenting, but noted that it is about the operation of the civilian airport even before the end of the war with Russia. We remind you that civil flights in Ukraine have been suspended since February 24, 2022.

The recent missile attack near Boryspil, which was successfully shot down by an air defense system, highlights the importance of strengthening security measures. Although Russia missed its target, debris from the missile landed in a residential area, causing concern among the local population.
