The European Union must fulfill its promises for the supply of military assistance to Ukraine. This was stated by Prime Minister Estonia Kai Callas on December 3, emphasizing the importance of real support for Ukraine in war.
"They had very specific queries, as always, as well as the frustration that everything that was promised does not really reach them. We really need to work on fulfilling these promises," Kallas said.
She also stressed that the EU is working on a new package of sanctions against Russia. Among other things, the issue of unlocking the European Peace Fund, which is used to compensate for expenditures to EU Member States for the transfer of weapons to Ukraine is discussed.
However, now these funds of 6.5 billion euros remain blocked through the veto of Hungary. This significantly complicates the process of supplying weapons and support of the Ukrainian army.
Callas's determination is aimed at increasing the pressure on EU countries and reminding them of responsibility for the fulfillment of promises. In today's context, when Ukraine needs rapid and specific actions, military support delays can have critical consequences.
