The European Commission considers the possibility of temporary restriction of gas prices after their record growth. About it reports Financial Times.
Gas prices in Europe have reached the highest level in the last two years, exceeding US three to four times. This situation creates significant difficulties for the industry, and among the main reasons for growth, experts call cold weather and weak wind, which reduces the production of renewable energy.
However, the proposed restriction caused concern among energy and financial circles. Profile associations warn that such measures can undermine trust in the European gas market and make participants look for alternative trade mechanisms outside the EU.
The European Union has already proposed a similar restriction in 2022 during the energy crisis caused by the reduction of Russian gas supply after a full -scale invasion of Russia into Ukraine.
