Europe imported fossil fuel from Russia, the cost of which is equal to 2400 F-35 aircraft. This remark was made by the European Commissioner for Energy and Housing Dan Jorgensen during a press conference in Brussels, which presented an EU Action Action Plan for Energy. He emphasized the need for Europe to get rid of the dependence of Russian fossil fuel, which became a matter not only of economic competitiveness but also for security.
According to Yorgensen, Europe is still buying Russian gas, thus indirectly financed by Putin's war in Ukraine. The amount of import of Russian fuel since the beginning of the war has already reached the value of 2400 F-35 combat aircraft. This situation, according to the European Commissar, cannot continue.
High energy prices significantly affect Europe's competitiveness. In the EU industrial sector, it pays for energy 2-3 times more than its main competitors, including the US and China. In addition, many Europeans cannot afford to adequately heat their homes - about 47 million people have encountered this problem last year. The European Commissioner stressed that reducing energy costs is an urgent task for Europe.
