Europe takes a leading role in helping Ukraine

The Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov stated that European countries are increasingly responsible for Ukraine's security support in the war against Russian aggression. He said this as a result of the 27th meeting in Ramstein format, which took place on April 11 in Brussels.

According to the minister, the meeting clearly showed the tendency to strengthen the leadership role of Europe in the issue of weapons of the Ukrainian army. He stressed that this testifies to Ukraine's desire to withstand in the war and to develop as a European nation.

"We have seen that Europe is gaining a leading role in providing security assistance. This is a huge contribution, and we are grateful to every country that has joined this support," Umerov said.

The Minister informed that during the meeting, the intention to allocate 21 billion euros to help Ukraine was voiced - one of the largest amounts that the Ukrainian side had previously calculated.

At the same time, Umerov emphasized that the United States remains the main strategic partner of Ukraine, although their attention is also partially focused on the Asia-Pacific region.

"The US is next to us and focused on peace. Our task is to bring it to life. We work together," he added.

Separately, the Minister reminded that Ukraine supports US President Donald Trump's peaceful initiative and remains open to dialogue with all partners to achieve stability and restoration of peace in Europe.

Ramstein's meeting reaffirmed the allies' readiness to support Ukraine in war and to look for ways to peace.
