On November 27, at a plenary session in Strasbourg, the European Parliament supported the composition of the new European Commission by a majority of votes. 370 deputies voted for this decision, 282 spoke against it, and another 36 MEPs abstained.
The new composition of the European Commission was proposed by the current and elected President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen. On the eve of the vote, von der Leyen presented the distribution of portfolios between candidates representing different member states of the European Union.
