The countries of the European Union are increasingly worried about the possibility of changes in US foreign policy on Ukraine if Donald Trump won in the 2024 presidential election. Therefore, in the US, there is now strong political polarization, and Europe plans to prepare for various scenarios, providing a possible reduction or even termination of US support.
According to Washington Post , officials are trying to strengthen the military and financial assistance to Ukraine before the election, realizing that the victory of Trump can dramatically change the balance of power in the global support of Kiev.
In addition, the EU is now in favor of increasing responsibility in matters of self -safety, since the loss of US support in defense is threatened with a "devastating blow".
European officials have also prepared a draft document with measures in response to Trump duties against EU products.
