The American intelligence first published a partially declassified report that outlined the facts of the custom murder of political opponents of Vladimir Putin outside Russia. The report entitled "The Kremlin ordered abroad, probably continued" was prepared for the US Congress in 2016. The document lists a number of crimes committed by the Russian special services in the period from January 2000 to July 2016, in particular, poisoning, which was personally allowed by the Russian ruler.
The report notes that the Kremlin's purpose is political and opposition leaders, mostly from the countries of the former Soviet Union, which are considered a threat to the Russian regime. One of the most resonant cases mentioned in the document was the poisoning of the third President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko in 2004.
According to US intelligence, at the time when Yushchenko was a presidential candidate and advocated the integration of Ukraine with the West, Russian special services introduced Dioxin into his food. This chemical has caused serious consequences for health policies and almost cost him. This poisoning has become one of the most shocking political events of the Orange Revolution, which is still a symbol of Russia's aggressive policy on neighboring states.
In addition to Yushchenko's poisoning, the report mentions several other resonant killings, probably made by Russian special services:
- In 2004, the former head of the Chechen Republic Ichkera Zelimman Yandarbiyev was killed in Qatar.
- In 2006, in London, the FSB Expreient Oleksandr Litvinenko was poisoned by radioactive Polonia.
- In 2012, Russian businessman Alexander Perepelychny was killed in the UK.
- In 2015, the Lugansk fighter Alexander Bednov, the so -called "LNR Defense Minister" was killed.
These events testify to the Kremlin's systematic approach to eliminate uncomfortable persons, using a variety of methods, including poisoning. The document published by the United States emphasizes the fact that political murder is personally worth Putin, which authorizes such actions.
