The frozen ground led to the intensification of enemy actions on the front - a report of British intelligence

Over the past two weeks, Russian troops have increased offensive activity in all areas of the front, and the key factor is freezing of soil, British intelligence said in a daily report. The frozen soil enables the enemy armored vehicles to move around the rough terrain.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (Armed Forces ), on January 19, the number of Russian shelling on the front increased by 27%compared to the previous day. During this period, 81 aircraft and 45 missile shells were recorded.

British intelligence data, which compare the period from January 14 to January 18, 2024 with the previous five -day period of the current month, indicate an increase in the number of Russian shelling and losses of equipment and personnel. In particular, the number of losses of military equipment of the Russian Federation increased by 88%, the number of losses of tanks - by 95%, and the losses of personnel increased by 15%.

"These data indicate the constant increase in the intensity of Russian offensive activity over the last two weeks. The key factor that contributes to this is most likely freezing of soil, which allows to move armored vehicles in rough terrain," the report said.

Intelligence also stated that the loss of the Russian side increased and that the Russian invaders paid their attention from Kupyansk direction to Lymansky, where massive attacks were observed.

The report also noted that the 697th day of the full-scale war of Russia against Ukraine is ongoing, and in the last day there were 80 combat clashes.
