One of the two lines of electricity supply of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant under Russian occupation was again deactivated. On May 7, Ukrenergo press service reported.
Currently, the NPP's own needs are provided with only one line, which is a gross violation of international nuclear security requirements. This situation increases the risks to the functioning of the critical infrastructure of the station and poses a threat of emergency scenarios.
According to Ukrenergo, the overview of the damaged line will be organized as soon as the security situation in the region. In the territory controlled by Ukraine, repair crews are already working to restore infrastructure destroyed as a result of enemy shelling.
The Zaporizhzhia NPP has already lost its stable power from the beginning of a full -scale invasion of the Russian Federation. In critical cases, the station was forced to go to work from emergency diesel generators. This state of affairs demonstrates the fragility of the nuclear security system in war and the threat posed by the occupation of the object of strategic importance.
