TV presenter Katya Osadcha shared her vision on the departure of Ukrainian male teenagers abroad, as well as mobilization issues, which continues to cause wide discussion in Ukrainian society. Her statements have caused a wave of criticism on the Internet - in particular because of the situation with her eldest son Ilya, who is currently studying in the United States.
In a comment to the journalists, Osadcha noted that the country loses human capital when mothers export their sons outside Ukraine. According to her, children need to conduct a dialogue, help them to see their future in Ukraine, in particular through the prospect of education, work and careers. At the same time, the TV presenter acknowledged that this is a difficult issue that should be resolved at the state level:
"We, as a public sector, cannot influence it. But so, so we lose human capital ... Because my moms really take their sons abroad."
Osadcha also expressed the opinion that the boys should defend Ukraine. However, forced mobilization at 18 is not the best solution, especially for those who are not ready to go to war.
"How to keep these boys? To make them fight? I think that at the age of 18 it would be the wrong decision of the state."
These words caused a violent reaction of social network users. The commentators immediately mentioned the eldest son of Katie Osadchaya-22-year-old Ilya, who has lived and studied at the University of Merland since 2021 in the United States. In 2023, the TV presenter assured that the son was educated in the IT sphere, applying his knowledge in favor of Ukraine and plans to return home after graduation.
Nevertheless, many Ukrainians have questioned the sincerity of the Osadchya words, accusing it of double standards:
-
"And she will send her sons to fight? Will she take out abroad?"
-
“Katya, then first send your husband to defense the state”
-
“Gorbunov and Osadcha are hypocrisy, lies, shame”
Some users, however, emphasized that the TV presenter did not call for violent mobilization in an interview, but only pointed to the existing problem and the need for the state approach.
For her part, Katya Osadcha stressed that she does not support the practice of violent detention of men on the streets for mobilization:
"I believe that all issues related to mobilization should be discussed at the state and society level, in particular with the participation of the military.
The issue of mobilization and presence of public persons and their families in Ukraine remains extremely sensitive, especially in a full -scale war. Public attention to such statements indicates a high level of emotional tension and a request for honesty and justice in public discourse.
